Assistants to the Artistic Director
Melissa Richardson, Mezzo-soprano
Melissa Richardson will serve as Conducting Intern with PCC for the 2011/2012 season. Melissa is a second-year graduate student in Choral Conducting at Westminster Choir College. She grew up in Wisconsin and attended Luther College as an undergraduate. She taught high school choir in Wisconsin for three years and then moved to Korea to pursue international teaching for four years at Seoul Foreign School, where she also met her husband Dan. During her time in Korea, she enjoyed directing a community choir of teachers and students from her school. Melissa has sung with the River Valley Community Chorus of Spring Green, Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Chamber Choir, the Masterwork Chorus of Morristown, New Jersey, and is currently a member of the Westminster Choir and the Westminster Kantorei and Mastersingers. Melissa also serves as assistant conductor of the Westminster Symphonic Choir.
Christopher Villante, Baritone
For the 2011-12 season, Chris Villante will serve as a Section Leader with the Pennsbury Community Chorus. Chris grew up in Bucks County and attended the Central Bucks School District, where he began singing, as well as playing the piano and cello. After graduating high school in 2005, he attended Temple University and in 2009 earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Two years later, Chris graduated suma cum laude with a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance. During his second year of graduate study, Chris began teaching: his first job was in the Central Bucks School District, where he worked at two of the middle schools and assisted at the high school when needed, which included vocal directing Les Misérables. Currently, Chris is teaching at Pennsbury High School as an assistant and accompanist for Jim Moyer’s choirs, and he is Vocal Director for the winter musical A Wonderful Life. In addition to teaching, Chris holds a position as Assistant Music Director and organist at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Warminster. He has sung in local recitals featuring works by Ravel, Brahms, Finzi, Mozart and Schumann. Chris has already made a valuable contribution to our group by preparing the Mendelssohn Gloria audio study materials (available on this Website) for the winter 2011 concert. And Chris will sing the bass/baritone solos in our 2011 Winter Concert!
